8^th Grade Meetings for 2011-2012

Meetings will be held on Thursdays @ 6:00 p.m. in room A-8.  The March 22^nd meeting will be held @ 6:15 p.m. due to Parent/Teacher conferences.

Update on Academic Achievement at Middle School

     Representatives from the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), School Improvement Division, observed instruction on the Middle School campus for a full day in September to determine the level of progress being made to improve/increase student academic achievement.  Prior to visiting classrooms, the ADE team was provided student data to use as a baseline/starting point to measure achievement growth for future monthly visits.  Every classroom was observed to determine coaching topics and assess teacher growth as a result of participating in substantive professional development.  ADE representatives were impressed with teachers and the increase in student engagement during instruction.

      A Needs Assessment conducted earlier at the Middle School will supply "Action Steps" for teachers and administrators to follow to ensure student achievement in both reading and math is increasing prior to taking the high-stakes AIMS Test in April.  The Middle School will receive additional support from Dr. Juan Baughn with the National Institute for School Leadership near the end of October.
