Dear Families and Students,

I am excited to begin my second year as principal here in Sacaton.  Since my husband   was a dentist here in Sacaton in the mid-1990s, I   have some special memories and history here. During my teaching career I taught 1st and   3rd grades   extensively.  I started my prior district's first after school tutoring program focused on reteach and enrichment for K – 5th grades. My prior administrative experience includes assistant principal, principal of Juvenile Detention, and principal of two elementary schools in Red Mesa and Round Rock.  The pursuit of further learning led me to obtain my gifted endorsement and National Board Certification in Early Childhood Literacy.  My entire teaching career centered around working with Native American children. I have lived in Page for the last 25 years and raised three children of my own as well as many others with family friends.  During this time, I also became very involved with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, and coaching. I took two different Girl Scout troops from Daisy to Seniors and earned the Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards with both troops.  My children competed in 4-H with steers, goats, rabbits, Guinee pigs, and equine (horses) and I was a 4-H leader for swine, sheep, and poultry. I have also coached volleyball, softball, soccer, basketball, and little league baseball.  In Boy Scouts moms can only help when the boys are little, but I was in for the ride while my son earned his Eagle Scout award.

My philosophy is that all children can learn and it is my job to give them the opportunity to do so.  To help me achieve my goals, I became formally trained in the applications of Kagan strategies, Fundations, PBIS, Synergy, and master gardening so I can play in the orchard as well.

In leadership, I believe in making decisions using vertical and horizontal collaborations that lead to outcomes that are best for students.  I believe and live my life in a servant leadership style. I will always represent SESD with honor and respect and do what I can, when I can, every time I can for our students. This year's roll out has been smooth and invigorating as we all continuously improve and grow together.  Our future is very bright and I feel the excitement buzzing in the air this school year.  YES!!!
