January is Governing School Board Members Month, a time to recognize the important role school board members play in ensuring strong, effective public education. Sacaton Elementary School District #18 proudly acknowledges the service and leadership of our School Board: President Karen White, Clerk Lucinda Hendricks, and Member Jane Johnson.
Public school boards matter because they:
Represent the community by reflecting local values, priorities, and voices
Set the vision and policies that guide district goals and decision-making
Ensure accountability for student achievement, finances, and legal compliance
Support student success through thoughtful oversight of programs and resources
Oversee district leadership by hiring and evaluating the superintendent
Manage public resources responsibly to ensure transparency and fiscal stewardship
Advocate for public education on behalf of students, families, and schools
Promote equity and access so all students have opportunities to succeed
We thank our School Board members for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving our students, staff, and community.
