The Sacaton Elementary School District Governing Board has officially adopted a four-day school calendar for the 2026–2027 school year following an extensive review and community engagement process.
Over the past several months, the District evaluated multiple calendar options and gathered input through a districtwide survey that included parents, teachers, students, and community members. Results from the survey showed majority support for transitioning to a four-day school week.
In addition to survey feedback, the District hosted community meetings and public hearings to better understand perspectives, address concerns, and discuss potential impacts. After carefully considering all input, the Governing Board held a Special Session to finalize the academic calendar—ultimately selecting the four-day model.
Why a Four-Day Week?
The decision was guided by several key factors:
Community preference:
Strong support across stakeholder groups
Student and staff well-being:
Opportunity for improved work-life balance
Teacher recruitment and retention:
A growing number of districts nationwide report increased interest from educators
Operational efficiency:
Potential cost savings in transportation, utilities, and substitute staffing
