Today marks the beginning of an exciting new school year at Sacaton Elementary School District #18, and we are thrilled to welcome our students, families, faculty, and staff back to campus.
The first day of school is more than just the beginning of another academic year—it is the start of new opportunities, new friendships, new discoveries, and new possibilities. Every classroom, every lesson, and every interaction helps shape the future of our students and our community.
This year's district theme is "Into the Future," reminding us that education is the vehicle that moves us forward. As technology, careers, and the world around us continue to evolve at an incredible pace, our responsibility is to prepare every student to succeed in a future that is changing faster than ever before.
Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, our students and staff will be guided by three simple expectations:
BE BRAVE!
Have the courage to learn, ask questions, solve problems, and challenge yourself every day. Growth begins when we step outside our comfort zones.
BE KIND!
Treat others with respect, compassion, and dignity. Our schools are strongest when every student feels welcomed, valued, and supported.
BE PRESENT!
Learning requires attention, participation, and commitment. Being fully present—physically, mentally, and emotionally—creates the greatest opportunities for success.
These expectations complement our district's commitment to providing safe, engaging, and student-focused learning environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Looking Ahead
The 2026–2027 school year brings several exciting initiatives designed to improve student learning and strengthen our schools, including:
A new K–5 Elementary School and 6–8 Middle School organizational structure.
Arizona's new four-day school week schedule for our district.
Implementation of Infinite Campus, our new Student Information System, providing improved communication with families through the Parent Portal.
Districtwide implementation of SuccessMaker Reading and Mathematics, providing personalized, research-based instruction to accelerate student achievement.
The launch of our Alternative Learning Classroom, offering additional academic and behavioral supports for students who need them.
Our Away for the Day personal electronic device regulation, helping students remain focused, engaged, and connected to learning throughout the school day.
Together, these initiatives reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and to preparing students for success both inside and outside the classroom.
Every Day Counts
Attendance continues to be one of the strongest predictors of student success. Our district motto reminds us:
"You Must Be Present to Win!"
Every day a student attends school is another opportunity to build knowledge, develop relationships, strengthen character, and prepare for the future.
