Dear Sacaton Elementary Families,
The school year is off to an amazing start! It is hard to believe we are already entering the second week of September. Our students have been busy mastering new skills, building friendships, and discovering new interests. We are proud of the positive start our students and staff have made together!
We have several important events and reminders to share:
Attendance Celebration – Thursday, September 17th
Our first assembly recognizing students with exemplary attendance will be held on September 17th at 9:00 AM at the Middle School. Our “Must Be Present to Win” initiative celebrates students who maintain consistent attendance at 10, 20, and 30 consecutive days. This initiative supports our school-wide goal of improving attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism. Every day counts, and we appreciate your partnership in helping students be present and ready to learn!
Math and Literacy Night – September 24th
We are excited to invite families to Math and Literacy Night on September 24th from 4:00 PM–6:00 PM in the Elementary School Gym. This will be a wonderful opportunity to participate in hands-on activities with your child's teacher and enjoy interactive make-and-take learning experiences together. We hope to see you there!
Bus Safety Reminder
Student safety is always a top priority. We ask families to please remind students that riding the bus is an extension of the school day. Students are expected to follow all bus rules and expectations, listen to the bus driver, remain seated, keep the aisles clear, use appropriate language, and treat others with respect. Following these expectations helps ensure that every student has a safe and positive ride to and from school.
September is Suicide Prevention Month
As part of our commitment to educating the whole child, we also recognize September as Suicide Prevention Month. We encourage families to continue engaging in meaningful conversations with their children, checking in regularly, and offering support when and where it may be needed. We are so lucky to have GRIC Behavior Health on campus next week to provide “Yes to Life” information. See the attached Spirit Week Schedule.
Picture Day – September 22nd
Picture Day is scheduled for September 22nd. Students may dress up for their Fall pictures, which will be featured in the yearbook. Please remember that all clothing must still be school-appropriate.
