Dear Sacaton Middle School Families,
Happy Fall! We are so pleased by the progress made by our students during the 1st quarter! Thank you for your parental and family support; together we can accomplish big things on behalf of our students.
The Tribal Education Department (TED) sponsored a “Whispers of Hope” Art and Poetry Contest in recognition of September as Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. More than 30 entries were submitted, and we are especially proud that three of our Sacaton Middle School students were selected as winners! Congratulations to Myrikal, Aliyana, and Addison on this wonderful accomplishment!
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on October 15 and 16 in the middle school gym. We look forward to sharing your students’ progress, celebrating their successes, and working to support their continued growth. Please remember that both Thursday and Friday will be a partial day of school for students.
Our girls’ volleyball teams recently concluded their season. While their win-loss record was not what we had hoped for, the season provided our students with many valuable experiences beyond the scoreboard. Being part of a team, building relationships with teammates, learning to work together, and making the commitment to stay after school for practices all contributed to their growth. We are grateful to Mrs. Murphy and Kailee Murphy for their time and energy to coach our girls and provide them with this meaningful opportunity.
Our second-quarter sports will include mixed cross country, girls’ soccer, and mixed flag football. If your student has already completed a sports physical during this school year, another physical is not required; sports physicals are valid for the entire school year. Practices for all second-quarter sports will begin October 13. Students must have a completed physical and transportation form on file in order to remain at school for practice.
We had a successful “Must Be Present to Win” assembly, where many students were recognized and rewarded for their outstanding attendance. Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors contributing to a student’s academic success. Our teachers are committed to helping every student succeed, and they are here each day, ready to teach, support, and encourage your children. We appreciate the partnership of our families in making regular attendance a priority.
As we welcome cooler weather to our community, please remember that students are not permitted to wear any type of “hoodie” at school. Students may wear sweatshirts over or under their required uniform shirt.
Thank you for your continued support of Sacaton Middle School. We are grateful to be part of this community and look forward to a wonderful fall season with our students and families!
Warmly,
Ms. Toepfer
Principal
Sacaton Middle School
